Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Cook the Steak and Vegetables
In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the olive oil. Once hot, add the sliced steak and season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook for 3-4 minutes until browned but not fully cooked. Remove the steak from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables
In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and bell peppers. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, until the vegetables are tender. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant. Return the steak to the skillet and mix everything together. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  4. Prepare the Dough
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle about 12×16 inches in size. If using refrigerated dough, you can press it directly from the package into the desired shape.
  5. Assemble the Stromboli
Spread the steak and vegetable mixture evenly over the dough, leaving about 1 inch around the edges. Sprinkle the provolone and mozzarella cheese over the top of the filling.
  6. Roll the Dough
Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough over the filling, tucking it in as you go to create a tight roll. Pinch the edges to seal, and place the seam side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  7. Egg Wash and Garnish
Brush the top of the rolled stromboli with the beaten egg. If desired, sprinkle sesame seeds over the top for added flavor and texture.
  8. Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and let it cool for about 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce on the side.
