Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80% lean and 20% fat is a good mix)
  • 4 slices of cheese (American, Cheddar, or your choice)
  • 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato slices, onions (raw or caramelized), pickles, ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Grill or Skillet:
    • If you’re using a grill, preheat it to medium-high heat. If you’re using a skillet, heat it over medium-high heat on the stove.
  2. Form the Patties:
    • Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Gently form each portion into a patty that’s about ¾ inch thick. Try not to overwork the meat to keep the burgers juicy. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up as it cooks.
