Ingredients
- 4 slices of bread (your choice: white, whole wheat, sourdough, etc.)
- 4 large eggs
- Salt and pepper (to taste)
- 1 tablespoon butter (optional, for spreading on bread)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional, for added flavor)
- Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish, such as parsley or chives)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Bread
- Preheat the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 320°F (160°C) for about 5 minutes.
- Prep the bread: If desired, spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of bread. This will add flavor and help achieve a golden-brown finish. You can also sprinkle a little garlic powder on the buttered side for extra flavor.
Step 2: Make the Egg Wells
- Cut out the centers: Using a round cookie cutter or a glass, cut a hole in the center of each slice of bread, creating a well for the egg. Save the cut-out pieces for later use, such as making croutons or toast bites.
Step 3: Air Fry the Toast
- Place in air fryer: Arrange the bread slices in the air fryer basket, buttered side up. If your air fryer is small, you may need to do this in batches.
- Air fry for 3-4 minutes: Air fry the bread for 3-4 minutes, or until it starts to turn golden brown.
Step 4: Add the Eggs
- Crack the eggs: Carefully crack an egg into the center of each bread slice.
- Season: Sprinkle salt and pepper over the eggs for seasoning.
- Air fry again: Return the bread with eggs to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes, or until the egg whites are set and the yolks are cooked to your liking.
Step 5: Serve
- Garnish: Once done, carefully remove the egg toast from the air fryer. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
- Enjoy: Serve immediately, and enjoy your delicious Air Fryer Egg Toast!
Tips for Success
- Egg Consistency: If you prefer runny yolks, keep an eye on the cooking time. Start checking at the 5-minute mark.
- Additions: Feel free to customize your egg toast by adding toppings such as cheese, avocado slices, or cooked bacon before air frying.
- Different Breads: Experiment with different types of bread for unique flavors and textures. Bagels, English muffins, or gluten-free bread also work well.
