How to Make Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes
Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients
- Cut the Steak and Potatoes: Cut the steak into bite-sized pieces and the baby potatoes into quarters. Season the steak generously with salt and pepper.
Step 2: Sear the Potatoes
- Heat the Skillet: In a large cast-iron skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Cook the Potatoes: Add the quartered potatoes to the skillet, season with salt, pepper, and a sprinkle of rosemary and thyme. Cook for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown and tender. Once done, remove the potatoes from the skillet and set aside.
Step 3: Sear the Steak
- Add More Oil: In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil and increase the heat to high.
- Sear the Steak: Place the steak pieces in the hot skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Sear for 2-3 minutes, letting each side develop a nice brown crust. Flip the steak pieces and cook for another 2 minutes until the steak is medium-rare to medium, or your desired doneness.
Step 4: Add the Garlic Butter
- Melt the Butter: Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter to the skillet.
- Add Garlic and Herbs: Once the butter has melted, add the minced garlic, thyme, and rosemary. Sauté for 1-2 minutes, allowing the garlic to become fragrant and infuse the butter.
- Combine Everything: Return the potatoes to the skillet, stirring to coat everything in the garlic butter sauce. Let it cook for another 1-2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
