Equipment
- Skillet for cooking steak and shrimp
- Large pot for boiling pasta
- Large pan for making the Alfredo sauce
- Tongs or spatula for flipping steak and shrimp
- Knife for slicing the steak
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Begin by boiling the pasta in salted water according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside, reserving a cup of pasta water in case you need to thin the sauce later.
- Prepare the Steak: While the pasta is cooking, heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Rub the steak with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Once the pan is hot, sear the steak for 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if you prefer your steak more well-done. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.
- Cook the Shrimp: In the same skillet, add the olive oil and heat over medium-high. Toss the shrimp with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper, then cook them for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from the pan and set aside.
- Make the Alfredo Sauce: In a separate large pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and bring to a simmer. Stir in the Parmesan and mozzarella cheese, and continue stirring until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with salt, pepper, and Cajun seasoning to taste. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of reserved pasta water to reach the desired consistency.
- Combine the Pasta and Sauce: Add the cooked pasta to the Alfredo sauce and toss to coat. Add more pasta water if necessary to make the sauce smooth and well-distributed.
- Assemble the Dish: Plate the creamy pasta, then top with the sliced Cajun steak and shrimp. Garnish with fresh parsley or extra Parmesan if desired.
