Equipment
- Large mixing bowl
- Loaf pan or baking sheet
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Aluminum foil (for covering)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, diced onion, eggs, 1/4 cup ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Add the crumbled bacon and shredded cheese, and mix gently until everything is just combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the meatloaf tough.
- Shape and Add Glaze: Transfer the mixture into a loaf pan or form it into a loaf shape on a baking sheet. Spread a layer of ketchup on top as a glaze, or use BBQ sauce for a smokier flavor.
- Bake: Place the meatloaf in the oven and bake for 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C). If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
- Serve: Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with mashed potatoes, green beans, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
