Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). - Prepare the Turkey
Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey cavity and pat the turkey dry with paper towels. This helps the skin crisp up during roasting. - Season the Turkey
Rub the turkey all over with olive oil or melted butter. Season generously with salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings you prefer, including garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, rosemary, and sage. Make sure to season the cavity as well. - Stuff the Cavity
Place the quartered onion, smashed garlic, and fresh herbs inside the turkey cavity for added flavor. - Prepare the Roasting Bag
Place the roasting bag in a large roasting pan. Carefully insert the seasoned turkey into the bag. Pour in about 2 cups of broth (the turkey will create its own juices, but this adds flavor and moisture). - Seal the Bag
Use the provided tie to seal the roasting bag according to package instructions. Cut a few small slits in the top of the bag to allow steam to escape. - Roast the Turkey
Place the roasting pan with the turkey in the preheated oven. Roast for about 13-15 minutes per pound. For a 12-14 pound turkey, this will take approximately 2.5 to 3 hours. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness; the internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh. - Let it Rest
Once the turkey is done, carefully remove it from the oven and let it rest in the bag for about 20-30 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat. - Carve and Serve
Carefully cut open the roasting bag (be cautious of steam). Transfer the turkey to a cutting board, carve, and serve with your favorite sides.
