Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Set the Temperature
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer
- Mix Cream Cheese and Sugar
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. You can use a hand mixer or a stand mixer for this step. - Spread in the Baking Dish
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Step 3: Add the Lemon Filling
- Layer the Lemon Pie Filling
Spoon the lemon pie filling over the cream cheese layer, spreading it gently to cover the surface.
Step 4: Add the Cake Mix
- Sprinkle the Cake Mix
Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the lemon pie filling. Do not stir; simply let it sit on top.
Step 5: Prepare the Topping
- Mix Butter, Water, and Vanilla
In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, water, and vanilla extract. Stir until well mixed. - Pour Over Cake Mix
Drizzle the butter mixture evenly over the cake mix layer, ensuring that it covers as much of the dry mix as possible.
Step 6: Bake the Cake
- Bake
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is set. - Cool
Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
