Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Set the Temperature
    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with non-stick spray or butter to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer

  1. Mix Cream Cheese and Sugar
    In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar until smooth and creamy. You can use a hand mixer or a stand mixer for this step.
  2. Spread in the Baking Dish
    Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

Step 3: Add the Lemon Filling

  1. Layer the Lemon Pie Filling
    Spoon the lemon pie filling over the cream cheese layer, spreading it gently to cover the surface.

Step 4: Add the Cake Mix

  1. Sprinkle the Cake Mix
    Evenly sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the lemon pie filling. Do not stir; simply let it sit on top.

Step 5: Prepare the Topping

  1. Mix Butter, Water, and Vanilla
    In a separate bowl, combine the melted butter, remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, water, and vanilla extract. Stir until well mixed.
  2. Pour Over Cake Mix
    Drizzle the butter mixture evenly over the cake mix layer, ensuring that it covers as much of the dry mix as possible.

Step 6: Bake the Cake

  1. Bake
    Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cake is set.
  2. Cool
    Once baked, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
