Deep Fried Marshmallows are a gooey, sweet treat with a crisp, golden exterior and a soft, melty center. They’re perfect for satisfying a quick dessert craving or for serving as a fun party snack! Just a few ingredients and a quick dip in hot oil, and you’ve got a deliciously unique treat.

Ingredients

  • 12 large marshmallows
  • 1 cup pancake mix or all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cold water (adjust for batter consistency)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Batter

  1. Mix Batter
In a medium bowl, combine pancake mix (or flour) with cold water, stirring until smooth. The batter should be thick enough to coat the marshmallows without dripping too much; adjust water as needed.

Step 2: Heat the Oil

  1. Heat Oil
In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test by dropping a bit of batter into the oil; it should bubble and rise to the surface quickly.

Step 3: Coat and Fry the Marshmallows

  1. Coat Marshmallows
Dip each marshmallow into the batter, making sure it’s fully covered. Shake off any excess batter before carefully placing it in the hot oil.
  2. Fry
Fry the marshmallows in batches for 30–45 seconds, or until they turn golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan.
  3. Drain
Use a slotted spoon to remove the marshmallows and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Dust with Powdered Sugar
Optional: Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top for extra sweetness.
  2. Serve Warm
Serve the deep-fried marshmallows warm for the best gooey texture. Enjoy on their own or with a chocolate dipping sauce!
