Deep Fried Marshmallows are a gooey, sweet treat with a crisp, golden exterior and a soft, melty center. They’re perfect for satisfying a quick dessert craving or for serving as a fun party snack! Just a few ingredients and a quick dip in hot oil, and you’ve got a deliciously unique treat.
Ingredients
- 12 large marshmallows
- 1 cup pancake mix or all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cold water (adjust for batter consistency)
- 1 tablespoon powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Batter
- Mix Batter
In a medium bowl, combine pancake mix (or flour) with cold water, stirring until smooth. The batter should be thick enough to coat the marshmallows without dripping too much; adjust water as needed.
Step 2: Heat the Oil
- Heat Oil
In a deep skillet or saucepan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test by dropping a bit of batter into the oil; it should bubble and rise to the surface quickly.
Step 3: Coat and Fry the Marshmallows
- Coat Marshmallows
Dip each marshmallow into the batter, making sure it’s fully covered. Shake off any excess batter before carefully placing it in the hot oil. - Fry
Fry the marshmallows in batches for 30–45 seconds, or until they turn golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan. - Drain
Use a slotted spoon to remove the marshmallows and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 4: Serve
- Dust with Powdered Sugar
Optional: Sprinkle powdered sugar over the top for extra sweetness. - Serve Warm
Serve the deep-fried marshmallows warm for the best gooey texture. Enjoy on their own or with a chocolate dipping sauce!
