Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine hash browns, 1/2 cup melted butter, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, chopped onion, shredded cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- Spread the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, mix together crushed cornflakes and 1/4 cup melted butter. Sprinkle over the top of the hash brown mixture.
- Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly and the top is golden brown.
