Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ribs: Start by removing the membrane from the back of the ribs. This can be done by sliding a knife under the membrane and then using a paper towel to grip and pull it off. Trim any excess fat from the ribs.
  2. Season the Ribs: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture evenly over both sides of the ribs, pressing it into the meat.
  3. Marinate the Ribs: Place the seasoned ribs in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight if possible, to allow the flavors to meld.
  4. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Cook the Ribs: Remove the ribs from the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature. Place the ribs in the air fryer basket, meaty side up, in a single layer if possible. Cook at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking, until the ribs are tender and cooked through.
  6. Glaze the Ribs: Brush the barbecue sauce over the ribs, covering them evenly. Return the ribs to the air fryer and cook for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the sauce is caramelized and sticky.
  7. Serve: Remove the ribs from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes. Cut the ribs between the bones and serve hot, with additional barbecue sauce on the side if desired.

Tips:

  • For extra tender ribs, you can cook them at 300°F (150°C) for 45-50 minutes instead of at 350°F (175°C).
  • If you like your ribs spicy, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mixture.
  • Serve the ribs with your favorite side dishes, such as coleslaw, cornbread, or baked beans, for a complete meal.

Enjoy your Air Fryer Baby Back Ribs!
